Europe’s Largest Vertical Farm Invests In Solar

Zestec “manages, develops and acquires renewable energy assets for institutional and private investors.” This video case study features Jones Food Company’s second vertical farm, JFC2, which is Europes largest vertical farm. Jones Food Company made use of a power purchase agreement (PPA) which is offered by Zestec through Octopus Energy. The PPA means that Jones Food Company put up zero up front capital for the installation of the solar panels. Instead they purchase the energy back from Zestec at a discounted rate. This model allowed Jones Food Company to quickly start using on site renewable energy with no upfront costs.
